Basque Chatellerault yataghan navaja

A traditional Basque knife, with a yataghan style blade, concave inward towards the cutting edge. These knives were produced by the Chatellerault workshops in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries and were famous for their high quality and level of finish.

Blade: 132 мм Х 4 мм. Austrian st. steel Bohler N690

Hardness: 60 HRC. Full flat grind. Hand longitudinal sanding to 2500 gr.

Spring: French st. steel X46Cr13

Liners: French st. steel X46Cr13. Hardened to 49-50 HRC

Scales : European moose stag

Blade axis: 4mm. Hardened to 55-56 HRC

Bolster and butt: brass:

Butt is made in a shape of “queue de crotale” – rattlesnake tail

Pull ring and a decorative ring finger: st. steel.
