I would like to present to you my folding version of the legendary Genoese knife from the 17th–18th centuries. Since the 16th century, Genoa—alongside Thiers, Barcelona, and Mechelen—was one of the major centers of knife production. Genoese knives served as prototypes for many later designs, including Corsican stilettos (as Corsica belonged to Genoa for a long time), Piedmontese knives, and various other types of weaponry. The laws of the Genoese Republic strictly prohibited carrying these knives within the city of Genoa, at least as early as the 16th century.

Genoese knives are a remarkable example of Baroque-era craftsmanship: elegant forms, complex blade configurations, and the use of silver in the knife's decoration.

Full length (opened): 236mm

Blade dimensions: 112 x 24 x 3,8mm

Blade steel: Bohler N690 st. steel. Hardened to 60 HRC

The blade features an engraving in the Genoese dialect: "Long live beautiful Genoa!"

Spring: 1.4034 German st. steel. Differentive (selective) hardening: The head of the spring is hardened to 59 HRC, while the body is hardened to 53 HRC. This increases the number of cycles and extends the spring’s service life.

The knife’s blade locking system is the French version of the slipjoint, developed in Thiers in the 1820s and known as cran forcé, or half-lockback.This is one of the best blade locking systems I know — powerful, reliable, and safe.

Liners: 1.4034 st.steel

Bolster: solid "integral" style piece of titanium. Shaped by hand tools - just files. 

Scales: Real genuine bog oak. Stabilized (Cactus juice).
